Okay, here’s my blog post about making a tea cup handle, written in the style you requested:

Alright, so I wanted to try something new, and I decided to mess around with making my own tea cup handle. I’ve seen some cool pottery stuff online, and figured, “Why not?” I’m no expert, this is just me messing around in my garage.
Getting Started
First, I needed some clay. I just grabbed a bag of whatever they had at the local craft store. Didn’t really overthink it. I also got a few basic tools – a sponge, a knife, and some of those little wooden things for shaping.
The Messy Part
- I started by just getting a chunk of clay and kneading it. Like you do with bread dough, but way messier. This is supposed to get out the air bubbles, I think?
- Then I rolled it out into a long, kinda snake-like shape. This was going to be the handle, so I tried to make it about the right size.
- This is where I messed up the first few times. I tried to just stick the handle onto a little clay cup I’d made. Nope. It just fell right off.
Figuring it out
So, I watched some videos, did the thing, scrath both side, add some water.
and realized you gotta “score” the clay. Basically, you scratch up the parts you’re gonna join, then add a little water (or “slip,” which is just watery clay). It’s like clay glue.

I scored both the handle and the cup where they were gonna meet, added a bit of water, and carefully pressed them together. Then I used one of those wooden tools to kinda smooth out the join, making it all one piece.
The Waiting Game
Then came the boring part – waiting. I let the whole thing dry completely.
I wanted to see if my handle would actually stay on, or make something presentable.
The Result
And done! I have added the handle onto the teacup!

It’s not perfect, a bit wobbly, and definitely handmade-looking, but hey, it’s a handle!
I’m pretty happy with it,Next time, I might try making a fancier shape, but for a first try, this is good enough for me!
